Day 1:Yangon, Dala, Twante
Day 1:Yangon, Dala, Twante
By
following the short river journey to Dala, we will start a 45-min car trip
through paddy fields & green areas to Twante (a small provincial town in the west of Yangon). Heading into
the centre of town, you will get to know Twante is apparently famous for its
pottery with a number of interesting workshops to visit. After coming to
a remarkable pagoda named Shwesandaw Pagoda, a stop at the Oh Bo Pottery Shed will offer you an interesting view of the process of making
the pots and opportunity to pratice making your own pots with enthusiastic
guidance from local workers.
One of
the lesser-known highlights when visiting Yangon is Dala, the southern rural
township of Yangon. The only easy way to reach the land is by public boat
over Yangon river which offers you first insight of what daily life is going
on both sides of the river. Soon enough around 15 minutes, the busy pier of
Dala comes to your sight from which we head out on a local trishaw to watch
people go about their daily lives on colorful markets, tea shops or discover
stunning pagoda of ShweSayan. There are always great chances to interact with friendly locals, learn about their culture and the way they cherish their lives.
